What is Moondeck?
Moondeck is an independent footwear brand started by two brothers from Minnesota. We make backless shoes for people who live on the move: from the dock to the cabin, the trail to the airport. Our first shoe, the Lunar Tide 1, launched on Kickstarter and sold out in four months. The Lunar Tide 2 is our second generation.
Where is Moondeck based?
We split our time between Tampa, Florida; Reno, Nevada; and the Great Lakes. Wherever the water is, that's where you'll find us testing our shoes.
What is a backless shoe, and how is Moondeck different?
A backless shoe has an open heel, so you can step in hands-free like a slide. Most backless shoes stop there. Moondeck shoes sit on an athletic sole with an adjustable lace system, giving you the convenience of a slide with the versatility of a trainer. You get easy on and off without giving up support, grip, or a secure fit.
How do Moondeck shoes stay on without a heel?
Our SlideFit™ lace system holds your foot through the midfoot and toe box. Set the tension once and the shoe stays put while you walk, hike, or travel, then you can step in and out hands-free every time after.
What are Moondeck shoes good for?
Everyday wear with a lot of in and out: lake and dock days, boating, travel and airport security, errands, walking, light trails, post-workout recovery, and around the house or cabin. They are designed to go from water to town without changing shoes.
How do I choose the right size?
Moondeck shoes fit like a standard trainer. Men should round up if between sizes; women should round down if between sizes. If you have wide feet or prefer more room, the removable insole adds about half a size of extra space when taken out. See the size and fit guide on each product page for details.
Are Moondeck shoes good for wide feet?
Yes. Every Moondeck shoe has a wide, natural-shaped toe box that lets your toes spread the way they do barefoot. For extra width and volume, remove the insole for about half a size more room.
Do Moondeck shoes have arch support? Can I use orthotics?
Moondeck shoes have a natural, low-drop feel with a cushioned, contoured footbed. The insole is fully removable, so you can swap in custom orthotics or your favorite aftermarket insoles.
Can I wear them with or without socks?
Both. The breathable upper is comfortable barefoot, and the adjustable laces let you dial in the fit for thin or thick socks.
Are Moondeck shoes waterproof?
They are not waterproof, but they are made for days around water. The breathable upper dries quickly, the outsole grips on wet docks and decks, and you can machine wash them when you get home.
How do I clean my Moondeck shoes?
Remove the insoles and machine wash on a cold, gentle cycle. Air dry only; do not use a dryer, since heat can affect the materials and shape. Replacing insoles from time to time keeps them feeling fresh.
What are Moondeck shoes made of?
A breathable knit mesh upper that includes recycled polyester, a contoured EVA footbed, and a multi-terrain outsole. Our shoes are made in Vietnam with manufacturing partners we have visited in person.
How much do Moondeck shoes cost?
Moondeck shoes are $130 USD per pair.
How much is shipping and how long does it take?
US shipping is a flat $6.95 on any order with shoes, no matter how many pairs. Color Splash insoles ship free when they're in the same order as shoes, or $2.95 on their own. In-stock orders are processed within 1 to 3 business days and generally arrive 3 to 7 business days after shipping.
How do pre-orders work?
When a new shoe or color is on pre-order, you can reserve your pair now and we ship it as soon as it arrives at our warehouse. The current ship window is shown on the product page, and we email you tracking as soon as your pair ships.
Do you ship internationally?
Not yet. Right now Moondeck ships within the United States only.
What is the return and exchange policy?
Exchanges for a different size or color are always free. Returns are accepted within 14 days of delivery, unworn and in the original box, with a $6.95 return label fee deducted from your refund. Original shipping charges are not refundable. Refunds are processed within 5 business days of receiving your return. Start a return or exchange at moondeck.co/pages/exchanges-and-returns.
Is there a warranty?
We build our shoes for real, everyday use. If you run into a manufacturing defect, email info@moondeck.co with your order number and photos and we will make it right.
